You're a member of one of Canada's most successful rock bands, and have been recording and touring for nearly 30 years. Then your drummer suffers two personal tragedies in the space of a few months and the future of your band is uncertain. What do you do? Well, if you're Geddy Lee, bassist and vocalist of Rush your team up with an old friend - Ben Mink - and begin working on your first solo album.
The result is "My Favorite Headache", released in November of 2000 to general critical acclaim. The album clearly demonstrrates the strength and influence of Lee's writing on Rush as a whole, and probably gives as good an indication as anything as to what the next Rush release will sound like (now they're back in teh studio). The songs are more accessible than Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson's solo album, "Victor", released in 1996.
What follows is a discography of all the CDs, promos and singles that I have ben able to track down that are in some way related to "My Favorite Headache".

Tracks: same as album Label: Anthem / Universal Music Notes: Like all things Rush related, this Canadian promo is one of the hardest to find. It was released in October 2000 in a jewel case with the track listing on a plain black and white rear insert. |

|
Tracks: My Favourite Headache, plus 2 minute snippets of The Present Tense, Window To The World, Working At Perfekt, Runaway Train, Slipping and Grace To Grace Label: Anthem / Universal Music Notes: Definitely the most unusual of the
"Headache" promos and just as rare as the other Canadian release.
It was also released in October 2000 in a jewel case with the track listing
on a plain black and white rear insert. |

|
Tracks: My Favorite Headache (4'20") Label: Atlantic Notes:This was probably produced to pre-release to key radio stations and for internal preview within Atlantic, prior to the the release of the first promotional CD Single. Despite the label stating it runs for 4'20" it is actually the full album version of "My Favorite Headache" |
|
|
Tracks: My Favorite Headache (4'09") Label: Atlantic Notes: If the Canadian promos are the rarest the CD Singles issued to radio stations in the US are certainly the most common. The was the first of two singles, released in October 2000. |

Tracks: Grace To Grace (4'17") Label: Atlantic Notes: The second of the US radio promos, released in December 2000.
